Meet Dr. J
Every child is unique and special. I take pride in spending time and getting to understand each child, so our team can provide the best, personalized dental experience. Children learn that ours is a safe and fun place to visit, filled with people who care about them, and we become their dental home.
~ Dr. Jeong Ho Seo, aka Dr. J
Education and Experience
After growing up in the Bay Area of California, Dr. J attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Environmental Biology. He then attended the Western University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD).
Dr. J then completed an Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry and received his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, College of Dental Medicine. This advanced training in the comprehensive care of children included: preventive care, behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma management, interceptive orthodontics, and special health care needs.
Prior to attending dental school, Dr. J worked and volunteered for Alameda County's Public Health Department. It was this experience that cemented his desire to pursue pediatric dentistry. In his interactions with school administrators, nurses, and parents, Dr. J heard their concerns about children’s dental health. He was surprised to learn that many parents wait until children experience dental pain before seeing a dentist, not realizing the link between poor oral health and other health and social issues. These realities inspired Dr. J to make a difference in children’s lives through pediatric dental care.
Dr. J has been in practice since 2014. He has a strong passion for serving others as both a pediatric dentist and a public health leader committed to providing primary care health services. He previously worked in Arizona where he focused on increasing access to care and providing comprehensive care for the Native American children at the Tohono O’odham Nation Indian Hospital. As a result of these activities, Dr. J received a Service Certificate Award for serving communities with limited access to care from the US Department of Health and Human Services in 2020.
Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education
Dr. J is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Through these organizations he has access to numerous continuing educational avenues to further develop his knowledge and abilities. Knowing that learning never ends, he especially enjoys studying advanced technology and new treatment methods.
Firmly believing that sharing is caring, Dr. J loves to share his knowledge and experience with others in the dental field. He has worked as an attending faculty member at two different NYU Langone Dental Medicine locations. As faculty, Dr. J provided direct supervision and instruction to general dentistry and pediatric dental residents, in addition to his employment in various clinical settings.
Beyond Dentistry
Dr. J and his family – his wife Dr. Han Na Seo and two young children – have resided in the PNW for several years. Time with family is Dr. J’s greatest passion and priority when not tending to growing smiles. By the way, his daughter loves to use cherry flavored mouth rinse and his son thinks toothpaste is the best toy!
